Time slips by and work piles up…

Elaine was commissioned by Gardening Australia Magazine to write a rather wonderful article “Three Dogs and a Fountain” for the October issue. Sadly, due to Elaine’s health and my teaching commitments we did not promote this charming piece in the manner it deserved.

Through the magic of the internet I can now at least in part remedy my appalling tardiness.

Follow the link to pages 30 to 33 and you just might be able to read it…

Here’s a little teaser, the opening paragraph…

“If you have a garden and a library you have everything you need.” Cicero

These words are so dear to me that a cover emblazoned with them is draped over my computer when not in use; it keeps the dust from the keyboard and Braille display. Yet to me at least there is something lacking. Would I dare to re-write Cicero? Certainly not. Borrowing from Dickens, his wisdom is in the quotation “And my unhallowed hands shall not disturb it, or the country’s done for.” No, I would simply add that for me at least life would be incomplete without my garden, my library and my dogs. All three of them, known collectively as the Fur Tribe.
